I think the heat is making me grumpy. Because when I look at my hair and the length it is currently, I can’t help but feel like a bratty child and complain how it’s not growing. Even though I know it is.
I’m currently shifting my focus to care for my hair as it’s growing so I do not have any complications once it’s reached the length I want it to be. Which is about twenty-four inches. Yeah, I know. It’s a bit insane. Not to mention I have a long way to go before I even get to experience what that is like again. When my hair was rather short several years ago, I did not use masks, oils or leave-in conditioners as it was growing until it reached sixteen inches. By that point, my hair had thinned out and lost its density up to three inches of hair. It still looked shiny and felt smooth. But it just looked thin and splayed. I’m not making the same mistake again.
My Hair Care Facts
- I don’t dye my hair
- I don’t bleach my hair
- I don’t use hot styling tools on my hair
- I will air dry my hair most of the time
- I will use the hairdryer on the cold setting if I need to dry my hair quickly
- I use Turbie Twists for towel drying
- I use Pacifica hair masks and leave-in conditioner
- I use Desert Essence oils for intensive treatments
- I use the Moroccan Oil sparingly for styling
The battle plan is to be diligent with everything I have in order to maintain my hair’s health. With shampoo and conditioner, I pretty much hop around to different brands. But everything mentioned above is the brands I stay loyal to for what I use them for. They are effective and the majority of them are affordable.
- Using an oil treatment for several hours once a week before washing hair
- Using hair mask for several hours about twice a week
- Using leave-in condition each time.
I know the extent of time in which I am using all these moisturising products seems excessive. I’ve done it before. It’s never caused any kind of damage. If I feel like it will cause any kind of damage, I will not continue. But I don’t see that being much of an issue. Though I’m going to have to start clipping my hair off my neck and such. The heat and humidity feel gross momentarily. Using the claw clips I have help to get the sticky hair off my neck and face without yanking my hair out of my scalp. Most of my life my hair has not been in the best condition when poorly maintained. There is always something wrong with it. I’m hoping with the proper maintenance I will be able to obtain the sort of healthy hair I’ve been lacking. I’ve had super long hair down to my bum. I’ve had super short hair. No matter what my preference was at the time, I’ve never felt even remotely content unless I put effort into the car.
I will be doing a review on a few new hair care products that I’ve been using. Including the new Pacifica ones.
